The Power Of The Tongue

Words, we speak them everyday, we use them to communicate our thoughts, feelings and desires.

But do we really understand the power of the things we say on a daily basis? We use words carelessly, we even take a word and give it a whole new meaning, bad means good, good means bad etc.

A dog as we know it is an animal, but with a different spelling and same pronunciation a dawg is now someone’s best friend. So if someone tells you you’re their dawg. Please don’t be offended in today’s world among some people that’s a compliment.

But words can be a blessing or a curse. I can’t remember the scripture verse right now, but the Holy Bible says: “Life and death is in the power of the tongue”.

For example if you look in Genesis in the bible God created this world we live in and enjoy, from words. Women are so called because Adam in the Garden of Eden spoke a word. Adam said because you came from man, you shall be called woman. So words can kill and they can give life.

So now we must ask ourselves what do we say to our family, friends, even strangers everyday. 
Is it positive, constructive, edifying, worthy to be repeated. 
When that person leaves are they leaving better than before they met me or are they leaving wishing they had never met me.

Our words should be so rich in value, that people look forward to what we have to say. They must want to write it down, so they won’t forget it.
That’s what makes the bible so awesome. You can read the same scripture now and get something totally different, new and fresh from the last time you read that same thing. That’s the power of the Word of God, and because we are made in His image and likeness our words have power as well.

So the next time you have to speak, make sure you positively impact that person’s life, with what you have to say. It may not be much, it may even be one word, but let that one word be a blessing. They may have heard 9 negative words before they met you. Make them forget the 9 because of your 1 positive word or conversation.
