THE LIVING WATER SERIES - SEPTEMBER 2016 WHAT IS PRAYER AND FASTING FOR BELIEVERS? (Matthew 17:21, Mark 9:29) Good day to all my readers and friends. I hope it's not too late to welcome you to the ninth month of September 2016 which I style "Your month of the manifestation of God's glory". I will like to encourage and at this same time empower you in the Lord by re-embracing Prayer and Fasting as one of the very potent tools of spiritual warfare for healing, deliverance and Dominion. As you know that our world is in a constant battle between the elements of wickedness warring against the believers. The battle began in heaven - Revelation 12 and was brought down when Satan and his disobedient Angels Fallen Angels, demons) were driven out of heaven by God because of the sin of Pride. (Isaiah 14:12-14, Eze. 28:12) Since then, the battle between good and evil has commenced on our planet. However, Jesus Christ has made a spectacle of Satan in a public show of disgrace. (Romans 6:8-10) For believers to overcome Satan, there are some battles that prayers alone cannot overcome hence, the encouragement for believers to combine their fasting with prayers. (Matt. 17:21, Mark 9:29). Everyone has or will face crises of life and faith. These pivotal times are part of everyone’s spiritual journey. Believers are not just to fast and pray but to do the prayer with the right conscience and with the right attitudes and also to fast according to the approach as recommended by the prophet Isaiah in Chapter 58: 5-7, with the expected outcome of verse 8. The question to ask therefore is: Why do some people emerge from the crisis with their faith. intact while others give up on God, the church, and holy living? Walking through each crisis—while purposefully maintaining our faith—is the key to emerging from the crisis with our faith still vibrant and alive and be able to be in dominion according to the authority given by God to us in Genesis 1:28.
